Practical Audio Amplifier Circuit Projects
by Andrew Singmin

Info on this BOOK "Practical Audio Amplifier.." at Amazon

Does anybody have this book?
Who is Andrew Singmin - Is he any good?
Other books to recommend?
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I, halojoy, have only some low cost, small paperback books.
So called "Babani Electronics Books"
BERNARD BABANI (publishing) LTD, London, England
It is a series of a couple of hundred(!) books about electronics:
------------
F.G.Rayer: Audio Projects -81
R.A.Penfold - 5 books!
Preamplifier and Filter Circuits -91
Audio Amplifier Construction -83
High Power Audio Amplifier Construction -91
Power Supply Projects -80
More Advanced Power Supply Projects -88

All these six books of mine are reprinted -94 to -96.
-------------------------------------------------------

Learning by reading is the key to understanding.
Gives you a better chance to be happy with your constructions.
To have good books is important to me.

We should be able to recommend some good readings here.
There are books on every level.
That can suit the individual backgrounds we have.

😀 Thank God, all of us are not Electronic Engineers! 😀

1. Ahhh, The Penefold, High Power Audio Amp Construction book. I have an origional, 1991 ed. Seems to me I ordered that one when I was 14... ...A good read, even now.

Yes, thank God not all of you are Electronic Engineers! Agreed!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The self thoughts worth the paper the verification is printed on! (Sorry, couldn't resist) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for some other good reads, the "Art of electronics" is a very good one, about $70 at amazon.com. Worth every penny of it!

I also like "Operational Amplifiers & Linear Intetrated Circuits" 5th Editon by Coughlin and Driscoll. Not a great read, since it's a text book, but I refer to it often enough!

I try not to read audio specific amplifier books. I feel it blurrs ones judgement. Bias in any direction is still bias. If I can't hear it, I don't believe it!

Thanks - yankee biker

Maybe I try to find that one.
But I like books with lots of pictures and
examples of circuits.
Not too theoretical with formulas!

Who needs formulas?
Does Nelson Pass use them? I imagine not!

/halo - good at math - 😎 but nothing beyond "Ohms Law" when he designs his circuits 😎

There's a lot to be said for 'intuitive' design. Like when this goes up, this goes up also... ...or when this goes down, this other thing goes up...

Math becomes very powerful when expressing the relationships between this and that. Once you understand those relationships, and are able to apply the math, the math becomes a powerful tool... ...and an engineer is born.

The most important scientific question to ask : Why?
The most important engineering question: What do I NEED?

-Dan

/dan - likes ohms law - unless it only approximates the answer to the problem. 😎
