power supply for amp1

I am a little concerned about building a power supply after reading this review http://diyparadise.com/tripath.html.

Also I can't find the tranformer called for at Digikey.

Has anyone built a 30V power supply for this amp? I need 4 ohm capability or else it would be easy to find a 24V power supply.

Partsexpress carries several good Avel Lindberg transformers. I don't know how well they are liked by the audiophile crowd though.

Parts express doesn't sell the required transformer. Honestly I don't think many people have actually built a power supply for the AMP1. I think a lot of people purchase the kits and then they sit in a box.


I did find the required 2x22V AC 300VA rectifier at a place called Plitron.

Just buy two of these 24v 6.5 amp power supplies.

Then connect them in series to make a 24-0-24 supply. Don't connect the AC ground to the supplies or they will short when you series them.

And don't worry about the "OMG a switching supply on a switching amplifier" naysayers. I have yet to have any problems with it.

No see the 41hz website, min 30v power supply for 4 ohm speakers.
