Power supply for a basic zen.

I have just come across an old vintage E-type transformer with attached pi filter. It has a small capacitor 200uf followed by a largish iron core inductor and then followed by a larger cap,
about 2000uf. It uses full wave recification.
Lets assume it has a suitable VA rating.
Can I use this followed by another inductor and then a bank of 2 x 22000uf caps. Will this slow the inrush current down. Will the first Pi filter ever have the guts to charge the second smoothing bank. Will this achieve a better result than dropping the first Pi filter and just using the second pi filter.
