Owner was upset about it drawing 30 amps off the wall at full tilt, so the tech put in a wee bit smaller transformer so that won’t happen anymore.

Saves about 40 pounds of weight too.

That IS true!
A study checking the immune system (allergies) among Estonian kids and Swedish (Stockholm) showed that the Estonian kids had much fewer allergies much because the were exposed to the natural nature, whilst Swedish kids lived in a much too hygienic environment. The theory is that when the immune system hasn't any real threats to deal with they take on whatever it can find.

When the USSR collapsed at thye end of the 9-ies, health care in the empire collapsed as well. The next several years saw a significant drop in juvenile astma. Attributed to the same cause.

A more believable theory is that Sweden has better diagnostics that detects more cases. Same in Russia - fewer asthma cases were detected as the Soviet free-to-use medical system was falling apart.
