portable FR speaker - opposing drivers

For a small portable stereo speaker with 3 inch FR drivers
What might be the advantages/disadvantages to a configuration like diagram A, with the drivers firing in opposite directions?

Is that a stereo pair of speakers?
(I assume so)
How far away will the listener(s) be?

the variants have very different radiation characteristics and version B will have some combing effects.
version A may be preferrable for even and diffuse sound around the speaker.
Version B would allow a stereo image when very near to the speaker.

A compromise might be directing the speakers slightly outwards, maybe 45°.

Most of the time the speakers are facing forward. Sure, there will not be any wide stereo image, but on the other hand with speakers facing away you may ger weird image.

such speakers usually are just used for background music, so i suppose imaging is not that important after all.
By the way, your example "download(2).jpg" is quite bad, bexause of tweeters horizontally next to woofers (combing!). And the "amazon" example would only provide stereo image when sticking your nose on the speaker ... other than that just "stereo combing".

Indeed, I would opt for the "A" configuration....make it as narrow as practical, maybe twenty-eight inches total length, five inches height, five inches deep, ?, and, fabricate a flap, door like structure, hinged that could both protect the driver while not in use, and function as a mid-tweet reflector to get some stereo imaging. Using 3/8 th inch wood should keep the weight down to a workable level.
