Please answer fast! Is it worth buying a 1960s 18" guitar cab for a subwoofer

would a 200 W 18" celestion driver fitted in a guitar cab from the 70s be good enough for decent quality bass to accompany some quality mid-range and tweeters?

Forget about it. Small xmax, high Fs, likely paper surround, about the only thing going for it is higher efficiency than standard subs. Low efficiency in current subs is correctable with bigger amps, not a problem these days, but the aforementioned faults aren't.

Speaker technology has evolved from 40 years ago; do yourself a favour and give this one a pass.

Oh no, I'm a bit :dead:now because the guy was also selling a tannoy-lynx dual concentric from the 1980s with a 12 inch driver and decent power requirements for around $80/120 and I missed the auction by about 10 seconds because it asked me to login again arg:hot:
