Hello
Looking for the Pioneer Turntable Gurus!
I have been working on a Classic Pioneer PL-630. It came to me with the well-known Speed Problems, which I solved by the cleaning of all of the pushbutton switches and pots. after that, it all worked quite well. I decided to do a full system Re-cap, and after that, all of the Automatic Functions were working extremely well, the Pitch Readout Meter, and everything.
I then ordered a New Cartridge for it, and therefore the table laid untouched for a few weeks. After that, when I came back to it, and to my surprise, I found out that when turning it on, it Raced Away - (in the correct direction) to about 100 RPM, although I did not measure this speed. If you select the Quartz Lock function, on Either Speed, the Pitch Meter just goes to the center of the scale, but the speed is still far too fast. If You do NOT select Quartz Lock, the Pitch Meter goes all the way to the left, on Either Speed, and slowing the table by hand to about the right speed - ( as registered on a strobe disc ), the meter still stays hard to the left side.
So; Does this point to a failure of the PA-2004 Device? I ASSUME that the PA-2005 Device is functioning normally, as the table spins in the correct direction --
Before I start to dismantle this again, can anyone point me in the right direction? -- Thanks to all who can help --
