I refer to the memory backup cap on the main system board, in both PDR04/05/99 and 555RW/etc, just a smaller cap in the 04/05. Easy to spot, as it's edge mounted, like a battery. In the 04/05, (been a while) I believe it's a 0.047F, and it's just as stupidly not-needed in that unit as it is in the 555/etc. So, it's simply a matter of removing it, then going through the painstaking process of repairing the corrosive damage done by it to a potentially wide surrounding area, primarily to the through-hole connection metallising.
