Better than your standard HV electro in the values I had (~500u/500V) probably due to lower esr (WAG). Only tried them in preamps though. I prefer PP in oil motor run caps for pre and power.fdegrove said:Hello,
Anyone having experience with photoflash caps in PSU and as a coupling cap ?
Thks,
Never tried them for coupling.
PHOTOFLASH
Hello,
You're right on this.
I was actually thinking about SE OTL headphone amps where you need a large value at high voltage.
In theory at least the lower esr of a Photoflash cap would bring an advantage at the high frequency spectrum.
Same would apply to amplifiers where the motor start caps would present too small a value.🙄

Just a small caution on the photo flash cap. I have had them flash-over or arc internally from time to time if you try to use them at 90% of the max voltage rating.
