I just picked up a Proton 830R (1986), poped open the the top and discovered a Philips CD player inside. Nearly everything in here is manufactured by philips, CDM2 transport, copper clad pc board with 2x TDA1540p DACs and SAA7010, 7020, 7030 chipsets. I'm not shure which model it is based on probably a cheaper model like CD-25, 65 or 75. Wondering if there is any potential with these internals. The transport was damadged....in transport but I took it apart and reassembled it, replaced a blown capacitor and it is now working pretty well. I'm not sure what it has for filtering either, I see a 100uf cap in series with the output of each opamp and a few SMD's. The sound is ok so far but could be better, any suggestions?
Hi.
If you post an internal photo, I will be able to tell you which Philips model it is based on. It could be CD100 to CD150 or maybe a 300 or 200 series.

Many of the upgradesndy suggested on the CD104 thread are equally applicable to any model using the TDA1540 chipset.
