I have an old Philip CD951 player with a broken CDM9 unit. That's what I was told. Any idea where or if I can still find replacement for this part in Singapore?
Thanks.

What are your symptoms? It may just need a laser. Still available from Bang and Olufsen!
Sorry for the late reply, just got back from holidays. Once CD is loaded, I can hear the laser head trying to read but the disc is not spinning. Display says NO DISC. Is this a laser problem or disc motor? Thanks for your advice.

Thanks Andy, sorry for the late reply, just got back from holidays. I see the CDM-9 Mechanism comes with both the laser and motor for spinning the disc?
My gear and belt is still good, does it have to come together as a set? Thanks.
Check to see if the laser lights. If it does and acheives focus, the motor should then turn. No focus, no motor.
The laser can be checked by quickly looking from above while no disc is inserted.
The laser should be lit when the head moves up and down.

Never look directly into the laser lens! Especially not from above! Use your phone camera instead.
I found time to disassemble the unit and try to do some cleaning but it did not help. The laser is definitely lighted and it is trying to focus, the head is moving up and down but motor does not spin.
I found 2 caps which looks damaged in the section of the board labelled "Power". Anyone knows if this could somehow be linked to laser not focusing?
Any advice is much appreciated.

That's just glue at the base of the capacitor.
When you press "CLOSE" try to push with your finger the CD tray and give a harder push just when it's about to fully close, see what the display reads.
