I've just acquired an Audica CS Sub10 wit a faulty plate amplifier. I plan to make it passive. The internal cabinet volume is 33 litres but almost 8 litres is a sealed chamber for the plate amplifier (leaving 25 litres for the driver). If a cut a 60mm hole between chambers is that big enough is that big enough for the driver to realise the full volume?
Wow. I never knew that. The 60mm hole between chambers will make the 8 liter box a narrow band Helmholtz absorber at some tuning roughly around 200Hz, below that frequency the air movement between the two chambers will be free-flowing, roughly equivalent to the volume of both.
