Paralle Push Pull Simulclass

Has anyone tried a a Parallel Push Pull Output with one pair of tubes running Triode Mode Class A to handle low level detail with the second pair running Triode or Ultalinear Class AB1 for additional grunt on demand.

I'm thinking of giving this a go using a current source in the Class A section Cathodes.
Are there any "traps for young players" that you would anticipate.

Trannies I have on hand to give it a go:
Hammond 1650T (Raa = 2000, 40% UL Taps, 120W)
VDV 2100 (Raa = 2000, 40% UL Taps, 100W)
VDV 2100 CFB/H (Raa = 2000, 30% UL Taps, 10% Cathode Feedback Taps, 100W)

Have matched quads of EL34, 6550 and KT88 Tubes on hand

Any thoughts/experience/advice greatfully received.

The idea is not new and has been given several names over the past few decades. Have you seen John Broskie's article about this in TubeCad? It's such an obvious thing to do that it's surprising there hasn't been more expolitation of it but I have read, somewhere, that linearity can be a problem. Some commercial outfit claims to have cured the problem but I don't know if they've been successful in selling it. (Sorry to be so vague but I can't remember where I saw this stuff, except that it was definitely on the 'net somewhere.)
