Hi Folks,
I took a chance and purchased 12 x 1uf 50v Panasonic FC caps from a seller on Ebay. I'm a seasoned Ebay seller, not a person who buy's from any old moron. And I hoped I would find an easier way of purchasing just the odd values that I might need.
What I got was 6 loose ones that looked Ok, and 6 on tape that look decidedly dodgy. These dodgy looking things have a matte finish to them. Now I've used hundreds of FC caps, and have a good stock myself. But I've never used, nor have any that look like these.
ESR is slightly elevated from around 1.0ohm or less for the good ones, to 1.14 average for these others. I can find no other pictures, nor any documentation that indicates the series have changed in any way.
What do you think?
Thanks

I know noob mistake, I have problems with getting stuff delivered where I live though. If RS, Farnell etc would send stuff 1st Class post I would have no issues.
It takes a special type of person to send you 6 fakes, in the same packet as 6 genuine ones!

The red print certainly looks fake to me, I think it is always thermally printed (or something that seems thermally applied to me 🙂 ), not like this.
FCs used to look like this before they were made RoHS-compliant. I can't say for sure, but there is a chance they aren't fake but 10+ years old.

The ones on the tape with the duller color are the older series. I have both types that were bought from Digikey.

Hi Folks,
I received this message from my Ebay seller...
Hum, so it seems they were sold in good faith. But check the listing..
6pieces x 1uF 50V Panasonic (JAPAN) FC 105?, HIGHEST QUALITY PANASONIC -ref:353 | eBay
I'm meant to be replacing old capacitors in my amplifier, with NEW not 10+ year old components (That probably explains their higher ESR). And then to stick 6 of them with 6 new ones to make an order of 12, is just bizarre.
Anyhow, he's going to send me six new ones to replace them. But lesson learnt. I needed 4 anyway! 🙂
Many Thanks
Rowan

Hello.
I'm sorry you were disappointed with the 6 FC caps on tape.
They were from my original stock of which I've sold hundreds of these 1uF 50v FC and were those as pictured in the listing. The 6 loose were the balance I supplied from my new stock and I only have the loose ones from now onwards.
For good order, I'll send you a further 6 of the loose ones in the post on Monday if you would like. Will this be good for you too?
To help me understand please, in which way do those on the tape not measure OK. It's those exact ones that I have been supplying for past year or so to some HI-Fi amp repairers that I've regularly supplied and they have given good solid feedback and message dialogue as to how good the amp repairs have been? They are all genuine, but those on tape are older stock supplied originally to auto insertion machines for robot production of circuit boards.
Would you like the 6 replacements to be sent?
I aim to give great service and hope I can demonstrate this to you.
Thank you.
Martyn

Thanks, the certainly appears to be the case. And the seller has accepted this and his going to change his listing.FCs used to look like this before they were made RoHS-compliant. I can't say for sure, but there is a chance they aren't fake but 10+ years old.

No, but I'll look them up. I just seem to get half way through a repair, only to realize I don't have some odd voltage or something. Thank you.Have you tried CPC. They send small packets by post, free delivery on orders over £5
I just want to reiterate, this seller has responded to my concerns in a satisfactory manner. The items appear to be genuine, just old. So I have no problems dealing with him again.I know noob mistake, I have problems with getting stuff delivered where I live though.
