Painting MDF

Hi,
I have seen several examples of cabinets that were MDF painted to a perfect gloss. I don't have a professional spray gun bit o do have a nice compressor and am willing to buy one if needed.

I am interested in painting the back, sides, top, and bottoms of a pair of Eros speakers I am building. The fronts will be Spalted maple but the other sides I wanted to paint a piano gloss black or dark brown.

I am interested in getting that perfect gloss wet look when I am done. Can anyone here walk me through this process? My cabinets are all glued with a few nails used during construction for stabilization. There will be a few holes to fill but not many. I want to know what is the best fill product, the best primer, best paint, etc, etc....

When I was a kid I used to rebuild old cars with my dad. I did have some experience with painting them years ago. In fact, he still has some pretty good spray guns I am sure I can borrow.

Thanks in advance!
Jeff
