When winding custom SE OPTs, which is the correct way to wire up the UL tap? Most people never wind their own transformers, so I'm not convinced that I can trust the way it is illustrated on a lot of schematics. Just want to be sure.
B shows a 40% ultralinear tap. With the tap at B+ (0%) you have pentode operation and with the tap at the anode (100%) you have triode operation.
Those two are identical. The difference comes after you determine which is +B and plate. B is marked correctly.
OPT primarys wound serially have greater capacitance to the core at one end than the other.
The plate lead needs to come off the wdg end of lower capacitance. I've measured up to 200 pF difference. 🙂
