Has anyone here ever heard the Monacor DT-300 tweeter used along with it's waveguide? If so what are your opinions of this setup? It seems quite reasonably priced also.
I've heard that waveguides offer numerous advantages, and I thought that trying the DT-300 along with it's waveguide attachment would be a good way to go.
The plan is to replace the existing tweeters in my 2-way bookshelf speakers, it may be a little tricky as the waveguide is quite a bit larger but I'm sure I can get around this issue somehow.
I'm hoping to crossover at 1.8KHz with a 48db/oct LR filter as I'm using an active XO. Would this be too low as the official spec sheet says that you can crossover at 2KHz when using a 12db/octave slope.

Troel Gravesen hase made a coupple of designs using it. have a look here for more details.

I'm guessing that that is an active system also? If so was the tweeter for DC protection or was it also acting as a filter?Very good tweeter for is price. I have used it in a two way with a 10" 1500@LR4 with a single cap.
In an active system you should equalize it a lot
1500Hz is a nice crossover point though, I'm hoping to use some 8" woofers and it would be good to crossover as low as possible really.
Thanks, it does seem like the waveguide really does add a significant boost in efficiency but I think with some good EQ it could be made to sound good.Troel Gravesen hase made a coupple of designs using it. have a look here for more details.

I only know the dt-300 with-out wave-guide pleasant sounding tweeter.
