A quick question..
This is just a thought...if you have an amp running PPP what effect would there be changing to PP and dropping the Op tap from 8 ohm to 4 ohm and still use the 8 ohm load?

Any thoughts,
On the change in distortion? THD etc...the amount of Iron in the core running at lower power..Etc?
Do you think the distortion / performance of the OP Tx would be the same at lower power using two tubes or higher ?
(Same performance just lower power)?

The idea is..
OK ...we have a PPP amp running 8 power tubes..using a switch 4 of the power tubes are shut down heaters off relay change over of OP setting..
Any thoughts...? If a high value resistor is put across the OP of the Tx it should remain stable..OP tubes set with DC bias.
Any thoughts about Cathode isolation..turning off the Cathode with a FET...or is it not necessary?
