Wow, I was wiring up an amp and measured 270 volts going to the boards! OMG I couldn't believe the caps weren't blowing up. I pulled the plug and ran for cover. After sitting on the other side of the basement for a while I realized I had my meter in AC mode while trying to measure the DC voltage to the amp boards. I went back to the bench, changed mode on the meter and found 136 volts running to the boards which is what it was suppose to be.
That had me fooled for a moment. Looks like I need to call it quits for the night as it's late and I don't need any more dumb mistakes.

A light bulb tester will prevent you from running for cover when you think you've made a mistake.
Better to have a false alarm rather than a real one! It's hard NOT to stay up late when you have a project in mind.......
