If it is for smoothing, always use an electrolytic as the ESR is much better.

I could be doing it wrong but I parallel a large motor run cap w/ an electrolytic.


I bought a bunch of Dayton 45uF 440vac motor run caps last year for $5 each. I parallel one with a 47uF electrolytic in my 6HJ5 SE amp at the node that feeds the 6HJ5.
