Hey guys. I'm new to the site. I'm attempting to build my first boombox. I need something that's loud enough to hear over the machines at work. Most ppl around here have the huge Sony Xplod boxes with the small subwoofers. However, I'm not looking to spend $200+. I told the guys here I could build one for half the price. Just not quite sure how to set it up, exactly. I've got Pyle equipment (240W head unit, 2x full range 180Wrms/350Wmax, 2x woofer 150Wrms/400Wmax). I'm powering it with two 12V/7AH batteries.
I was wondering about amps. Should I have one? I feel the speakers overpower the head unit. Should I try a car audio amplifier, or a chip amp? 2 or 4 channel?
