Hey folks, I'm a long time lurker but this is my first post, please be gentle with me!
I'm hoping to get some advice on a number of points. I intend to build a smallish all in one unit but with good sound. My folks have an old Phillips radio which I intend to refurb and put new parts inside. The source would be an ipod connected through RCA - 3.5mm jack or wired directly to the board:
I've spent a month or so reading up on safety, wattage, ohms etc and I think I have a fairly rudimentary grasp of the basics. I definitely have the bug 🙂
So anyway, after long consideration I have purchased this board:
2 X 100Watt Class D Audio Amplifier Board - TK2050_Class D Amplifier Board_Audio Amplifier and other Audio Boards_Audio_Sure Electronics' Webstore
I'm now thinking that that is going to be too powerful for that smallish enclosure, so I'd be happy to keep that for my next project (I know I'm getting ahead of myself here..) So I could order another board but I'm really going for decent quality with this. I've looked into a 50K potentiometer so that I have volume control, using the original knobs on the radio.
I've been looking at a couple of sub/mid woofers from maplin at around £20 and a couple of Piezo tweeters, no crossover.
So I guess I'm looking for a few pieces of advice - is that board miles too powerful? Is my speaker choice way off the mark? Any power supply suggestions? Any suggestions would be greatly received and I hope to be a regular contributor to the board once I'm up and running.
Cheers 🙂

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
