I am planning to use 20 pieces of 4,700uf 50v capacitors per channel for my Aleph 2 Power Supply with 35V-0-35V, 1K watt transformer. The voltage after regulation will be close to 45v. Is 50v rating on capactor running @ 45v too close?
I did searches and read many informative postings but still have this question. 45V will be about 90% of the rated 50V. Is that going to shorten the capacitor life or the 50V rating capacitor will be fine? Thank you for your help.

I would tend to use higher voltage capacitors because the mains voltage fluctuates around the nominal value. If or rather when the mains goes high, you could find yourself in trouble. ~60V - 75V caps would be more to my liking.
If you already have those caps, use them, if not, try to find higher voltage ones. I used caps in amps with rails the same as the rating on a cap and after 10 years they still work, althoughd I would never recommend it.🙂
I have an amp that survived a couple of years in a similar situation, 50V rails at idle with 50V caps. That supply is being rebuilt now though because it scares me too much. 🙂
