I just bought a pair of old Qln Qubic 929 speakers to tweak and mess around with.
Two reasons for this, I just love the mids of the venerable Vifa C17, and the build quality of the old Qln cabinets is really good.
Now while the Vifa C17 excel in the midrange department, they are not that good for pure bass duties with high fs and limited excursion capabilities.
So I want to try some new woofers.
I don't want to modify the cabintes to much, and due to the close proximity of the drivers, I don't see to many options.
But I see that SB Acoustics SB17 variants and Peerless HDS series with truncated frames would fit in without to much hazzle.
I saw Troels Gravesen's new design, the SBAcoustics-61-NAC, and his take and measurement on the SB17NAC35-4.
I guess the 8 ohm version would measure and perform just as nice.
Really like the high QMS....
The internal volume for the bass compartment is a little over 50 liters.
Any suggestions or thoughts around woofer choise?
