New speakers to compliment Nak SR-3A?

Ok, I'm pretty new to this so bear with me.

I recently acquired a Nak sr-3a receiver on eBay for about $100, a decent deal I'm told by a friend. So now I am seeking a new set of speakers that will compliment the quality sound that this receiver is capable of producing, while remaining fairly affordable ($300/pair or less?). My understanding is that the continuous output for this receiver is 2X45W into 8 ohms. Not sure what the rating for a 4X system would be, or if this should even be used. I would like to have a system capable of producing adequate bass for electronic dance music, to be used in a room approximately 40' x 18' for house parties and dj mixing from digital sources.

Is my best bet to get some multi-ways, some full ranges, or separate subwoofer/top configurations? I'm not entirely against the idea of building a set if it will be cost effective. How can I get this done on the cheap?

No takers? I know that this is not necessarily the ideal forum for this post, but my first instinct was to buy or build some 3-ways to use for this system. I would like to find a beginner/intermediate set of build plans for a versatile set of speakers, as I am just starting out in this hobby. Any input would be appreciated.
