im not sure where this post should have gone
so i just put it here..
anyhoos my retarded roommate while draining his waterbed
kinda forgot to tell me that water got spilled all over the place
thus water traveled into my room soaking the bottom of one my boxes.
i just yanked the box out of my room and check it out..
the mdf underneath is expanded..
luckily though they're aren't noticable airgaps YET..
partially due to i still haven't taken out the screws
my question is how do i got about drying the box bottom..
do i stick it in the sun?
just leave it and it will dry itself?
should i leave in the screws?
help

I would take the bottom of if that is the only part that is wet and replace it. once MDF has expanded from water damage i dont think that it will be possible to get it back to how it was due to the way MDF is made.
Hey I own a Waterbed!
, But a bad roommate, is a bad roommate!
God!, but I'm glad not to have to go through the whole "Roommate" thing.........I just have to deal with two kids and a wife! Almost as bad as three roommates!! 😱
I would keep the box (I'm guessing speaker box?) out of the sun for now. Put it In a warm, dry place for a few days. See what the damage is on the soaked piece, then deside what the best action is. Chances are the part that got soaked will crumble apart by hand if it got wet enough. >>DON'T REMOVE THE SCREWS<< till it dries!!! It might keep the piece flat.
Good Luck!,

I got a similar problem with the sheet of MDF in my garage. I got flooded by a big rain and the water soaked the MDF. There is no way to reverse the "expansion" of the MDF. You will have to sand it down or just replace the sheet (if possible).
Once MDF gets wet like that -- time to replace it -- i'm sure you wanted an excuse to build new boxes 🙂 Personally i prefer good plywood to MDF and since your roomamte should be buying damn the extra expense.
