perhaps it has to do with translating from French to Franglais.

A perfect example of "lost in the translation".
But this is an excellent site however. It really illustrates the concepts very well.
I remember the very first generation LDO regs from the mid 1980s. Being used to the rock-solid stability of the 78xx-type regs, they were quite a rude awakening. They would oscillate under very narrow line/load/temp conditions that most certainly one would miss in the bench tests.
The newer LDOs are so much better.
