my freind has the Ne5534 single opamp in his dac, they are in the out put stage is there any good quality replacements for this chip and will it open up the sound stage thanks john
Easy. The OPA134/2134 are the best value audiophile op-amps available IMHO 😀 They have an impressive "bang for buck" ratio. Above these, you are firmly into the law of diminishing returns.
They are also very well behaved, i.e. DIYer friendly!

I think the Analog Devices offerings are better choices, offering more detail and spacious sound. The AD8610/20 is great if your power rails are +/-12V or less. Check out HeadWize and Head-Fi for zillions of threads on opamps. Also see this link for some opamp reviews:
