How do You want to power the amp ? Pre-amp sends ground thru pin 1 ? Isn't the pre-amp signal ground already connected to chassis or PSU ground inside it ?

Ok from what I understand nampon switches the amp on when connected to ground.
If You intend to switch the amp ON when You connect a XLR cable, the wiring is correct if You connect the XLR pin 1 and chassis ground inside the plug, but it doesn't make sense.
I would use some sort of switch for that. If You leave a cable always connected it's always ON, because the cases will be grounded at the power plugs, assuming metal cases & grounded power plug, and it would deviate from standard XLR wiring.

i thought about adding a switch but decided against it in the end after reading through alot of threads on this and other forums i went ahead and wired blue to pin 2, white to pin 3 1 to ground, nampon to ground. ideally i would have liked to have been able to add a 12v trigger so it powers on when my home theater Receiver powers on.

Just drill a hole and fit another type of small connector for triggering or use a special 4 plug XLR with a special cable but it will only work on Your system, unless You make also a special 4 pin to 3 pin XLR adapter.
Sony for example uses a special 3 pin molex like connector for the AU-BUS.
