Hey😀
I'm Jim from Michigan.
I got into electronics because of music. I'm guessing a lot of people here did.
I started out doing mini-tours of the midwest in a rock band when I was about 16. That was more than 10 years ago now, but I've sessioned with just about everyone who's crossed my path.
I don't play live a whole heck of a lot right now, as my work in TV pretty much destroyed my time to get a band together. Fortunately, it allowed me the outlet of reading about electronics and getting a good electronics start by asking some well-seasoned (not season salted) engineers whenever I got stuck on something...
I've corresponded with a few big labels, but getting musicians to work seems to be one of the hardest jobs I've had in a while. Anyone want to come up and jam?
I own a decent sounding studio, most of which is other people's throw-away equipment that I've ressurected from the dead. See it HERE. I've done my share of DIY stuff around here, my favorite projects being a few guitar pedals, racking my Fairchild Integra III mic pre's (x8,) and racking my API 312's (x8.)
I've designed and built a couple of discrete preamps, but I think it was just a sidestep from my true need to build my own recording chain in entirety... Mics are next...
