Spl

Lets' redefine "bookshelf"..the Minimus 7(The RS 7" high black metal one) is really not a true bookshelf speaker these are mini speakers. Bookshelfs' are about 14 inches high...getting high SPL is very difficult from these sized speakers....I like Cerwin Vegas for their very high efficiency..www.cerwinvega.com
The rule of thumb is large box, high efficiency, small box, low efficiency. Try www.klipsch.com really efficient stuff..

Thanks for the insight, yes I was referring to minis, I want a small minimalist's look with my TA-10. So I guess the new Minius 7 is not too bad at 88dB then, its an inprovement over their older models. Currently its on special for $39.99CAD so its not too bad price wise.

I thought & confirmed, the Minimus 7 was out of production since 93! Is the pair you found used??

I worked at Radio Shack in 1980 & we got to experiment with the systems.....The M7 was rated for "only" 40 Watts RMS....Sooo we hooked up one to the resident 120 WPC monster receiver to see what she could do...held up fine...for a while..tweeter fried.
I would feel very confident you could up the power right up to the 40 WPC rating to get some truely room filling sound...from there you could find/make a small discrete subwoofer to hide somewhere to complete your system!!
