Could someone offer an explanation of the differences, technical and real-world, between Mosfet regulators, such as these on eBay -
High Speed LOW Noise Mosfet Power Supply Regulator KIT | eBay
High Quality Mosfet DC Regulated Power Supply PCB | eBay
versus Mosfet shunt regulators, such as the Salas regs.
Technically, the eBay regs have no CCS front end, correct?
Is the CCS/shunt aspect the key to keeping noise as low as possible?
I'm particularly interested in a mains power supply solution for the SEN I/V converter, where power supply noise is critical.
Thanks

If you can, build the Salas and forget about those kits. Speaking of noise, these kits use zener diode as voltage reference, their noise figure is probably several magnitude higher than Salas's.

Both of the eBay voltage regulators have Constant Current Sources driving the gate electrode of a series pass transistor. I don't know whether you consider that to be a "CCS front end", or not.
The second one uses current regulator diodes to implement constant current sources; (here is a device datasheet)
