Well I have had the last couple of Saturday's off from working on the chassis of my Zen IV because the owner of the machine shop at which I have been doing the fabrication is on vacation. See thread http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27658 for my original post. I have decided to build the electronics with what I have done of the chassis so far. The electronics is now done and working so all I have left to do is fabricate the front panel, top panel and front handles before it goes for annodizing and powder coat. Holy Capacitors Batman!!! What are those monsters rated at and where did you find them. If my guess is right they are Chemicon's aren't they? Nice work!

Yup they are Chemicons. They are 56000 uF each at 63 WVDC. I have two in parralel for each rail. I found them on Ebay and paid $9.99 for the lot of four capacitors. Such a bargin! I have to add some sort of bleeder resistor because they take forever to discharge completely.

I found my capacitors 2nd hand at the same time I salavaged my heatsinks. I don't think the guy even charged me for them as he only charged me on the aluminium.

The must be an old design as they're like half the capacitance as yours (34,000uF 50V) and look like twice the height.
I like to ask, is there a reason why computer grade screw terminal electrolytics are so much bigger than the snap-in mount ones of the same capacitance???

The toroids are 360 VA each (two 18 VAC secondary windings in series at 10 Amps each). You raise a good question. I have no clue why the computer grade capacitors are so large compared to the snap in variety.
