I was hoping someone who has built Fonken speaker cabinets could advise me on the best internal insulation material to use? I have seen posts about 12 mm felt, and someone recommended to me 1/2" Aurelex (with small triangular foam shapes rather than egg crate foam shape).
Thanks for your assistance.

Foam is not very good in this application. This is the cottom felt we use: Creative Sound - Product Details
Which Fonken were you intending on building? Note: there is no specific miniFonken. Fonken implies a Fostex driver, the generic name for this alignment is miniOnken -- no matter what driver.

I just stuffed some No-Rez into a horn pair of FE126en Fostex speakers (Horne Shoppe) and the result was kind of amazing. I highly recommend the stuff. If you have access to a bandsaw you can make it any shape you want with some precision. Then application is peel and stick; if you don't like it you can get it off with some force.
