mini-dsp 2x8 Output Muting

I have recently purchased a minidsp 2x8 unit, however I was very surpised to find that it's output muting does not work correctly and it emits quite a significant "pop" on powering down.

The unit is being power by an LM1084 based regulated power supply with just over 10000uF worth of capacitance in case anybody suspects it may be a problem with the power supply.

Using MiniDSP's suggestion of doing a "soft power off" by using the REM IN (+12V Remote In) feature is fine when conditions are as expected, however when you have a brown out or when the power supply for the mindsp fails or when the dog chews the power cable) then you don't have that option of the soft power off.

As you can imagine this can be FATAL for speakers in an active speaker configuration.

I addressed this problem with the manufacturer in the thread linked below
2x8 Sound POP/Surge when unplugging AC | miniDSP
They confirmed that I had one of the newly revised boards meant to prevent this problem, however there is still most certainly a problem in this area.

It seems to me that to make this unit fully functional an additional RELIABLE external muting circuit is required.

Has anybody else had any experience with this? Did you solve it in a different way? Do you feel miniDSP is being a bit dismissive of quite a significant flaw in their product?
