Does anyone know where you can get the Panasonic WM-61A electret capsule in europe (uk would be nice)? The combined 'handling' charge and delivery cost from digikey is ridiculous for a few capsules...and I can't find anyone in the UK to sell me less than 1000 pieces...hmmm
Is this good enough?

Can't tell, dodgy coding means I can only see the pics, and none of the text!
measurement mics
Try these mics from LinearX Systems. Check out the M31, M51, M52 and the M53. We are using the M51 mic with their LMS v4 system

Re: measurement mics
Hmm,
$150 - $350 is a lot of money for such a microphone. The Monacor MCE-2000 will cost around 4 EU at a local DIY electronics shop in Europe. Okay you have to make some modifications yourself ( http://www.linkwitzlab.com ) and build your own mic. amp but that will not cost you that much.
Also the Behringer ECM8000 (street price 45 EU) contains the Panasonic capsule.

Pjotr;
Sorry, I didn't realize what your budjet was LOL!! Been there, done that. My son and I had decided to try and make a few bucks doing speaker measurements, to turn a life long hobby into a small business. Within a year, the writing was on the wall that we needed a more accurate " professional " measurement system. The big deal was that we needed a quick and accurate way to measure Thiele/Small parameters and the LMS does that well.
It took us more than 2 years to save enoug money to purchase it. The M31 mic comes with the LMS and is the lowest priced mic on their list. The M50 series of mic's require a different power supply than the LMS provides, and are used where measurements of higher SPL's are needed.
Now, all we need to do is make enough cash for it to pay for itself.

Isn't Digikey in the UK? Their website has a little Union Jack on it?
Another option is to buy Rod Elliot's microphone housing and preamp kit. http://sound.westhost.com/project93.htm This will probably add up to more than a Beringer mic, but it does have a high level ouput, so you wouldn't need an additional preamp.
It can run off 9V or phantom power.
I have the kit, but haven't built it yet, also due to the difficulty/expense of getting the panasonic mic capsules. Unfortunately Rod doesn't supply them in his kit, despite it being an obvious idea.

Stock is kept and shipped from the US. The flags just allow you to work in local currency and make local tariff calls.
Ok, well im gonna order 10 i think. Anyone want some capsules in the UK then let me know and we can split the cost of tax/shipping.

I'll take a few off you when you get them. Post the final price, and depending on demand, I might take up to 3 or 4 🙂
I rang panasonic and got 5 free from them...No carriage etc.!
Also Maplin have some in that look similar but I couldn't tell you who the manufacturer is!
Good luck,
Gaz

The thing with Digikey is that shipping is just way too high.
17$ to canada!
So if someone in the USA were to buy some, I would be willing to purchase a couple off them. Shipping should be very low (1-2$ for a padded envelope).
Thanks

Has anyone tried the linkwitz mod.I can't get it to work.A lot of buzz and oscillation?
These mics normally connected can't handle any kind of reasonable live music spl's apart from classical music. The problem is mainly in the bass where even low levels of bass lead to lots of distortion.

I don't see these being useful for any kind of real spl measurement only low level RTA functions which considering you can get better then +1db/-1db for under $10 in parts...is QUITE good

Re: Re: measurement mics
Are you sure it has the Panny capsule? The diameter of the mic is larger than needed and the Behringers phantom voltage requirement would fry the panny as well.
