I'm swapping out my tube power amp for a solid state McIntosh unit temporarily. My tube pre is a Conrad Johnson PV-1. Can someone please tell me which input setting on the McIntosh power amp is appropriate for pairing with this CJ preamp? It has settings for .75 volts and 2.5 volts.
I'd start with the 2.5V setting- if you have to wind the volume up to full and it's still not loud enough, then switch to 0.75V. Contrary to psychology, it's fine to have the preamp volume control turned up well past 12:00.
