i've been using a maxamp20 amplifier for a few years to run a couple of 4Ω coaxial speakers from a 12v battery and recently the amplifier died so i went to purchase a direct replacement but it looks like the Accusafe website hasn't been updated in about 5 years, what would be the best amplifier i can purchase now as a replacement?
Ah, I've not tried bridging before but I have at least heard of it. Please correct me if I'm wrong but as I understand it bridging would only allow for the connection of a single speaker to each amplifier? I want to run two speakers off each amplifier, would two 4Ω speakers be too much for this amplifier?
There are boards with 2 of the chips, and each chip is in BTL (bridge) mode.
You must use bridge mode to get 25W @ 4 ohm out of a 14V supply, so your maxamp will also be using bridge mode internally.
Anyway, you still have 2 channels. Each channel is capable of a 4 ohm load.
