I opened it to check and found out two fuses were blown;
Also noticed the classic diode problem had already been tackled
I guess changing the fuses wouldn't be enough?
What should I test for right now?

Classic circuit blunder that Luxman made. I was authorized warranty for Luxman back then.
Going to LED and limiting the zener current is what you need to do. The work done doesn't look very good at all.
Blown fuses indicate another fault. Let's start by looking for the over current cause and reporting what you find.
