Loud Popping Dynaco ST-70

I'm getting some loud popping in both channels in my Dynaco ST-70. I'm figuring it's in the power supply, maybe arcing in the caps or the diode? Wondering if any of you have had this problem before I go spending all this money to replace parts.

Most likely the PS. Is it old and original?

Almost certainly the multi-section power supply cap. Quick search brought me to dynakitparts.com. They (and probably some others) have what you need.

I was figuring it'd be the cap. The PS is original. I'm thinking that I'll order all new parts from digikey and rewire up my own power supply including new inductor. If you're interested I can post an update once it's done.

Don't forget to replace the old selenium rectifier with a silicon diode if not done yet...

You might be interested in the Stereo 70 power supply upgrade available at Classicvalve.ca. It fits under the chassis, uses readily available caps, and lets you keep the 5AR4 or switch to ss diodes.
