Looking for Cheap 12/15" recommendations

I have a bunch of OK quality tweeters and mids lying around that I need to use before my wife castrates me. I'm looking for some inexpensive 12 or 15 inch woofers to build mid-century - mid 70's inspired cabinets for music and home theater. I would prefer to use a woofer over a subwoofer. However, these will be in a fairly large room, so I don't mind tuning the cabinet high and lean or using a somewhat less efficient woofer and letting the room gain, which should be down to about 30 - 40Hz, compensate for the thinner bass. I would like an fs below 30 Hz, and a Qts below .50. I will generally take linear distortion over non-linear distortion and Sd over excursion. I am not sure what amp will be powering the speakers yet, but it probably won't be anything too impressive. I also don't listen too loud, though I appreciate the importance of high SPL performance. I don't want to shake the $#!t out of the windows in an old farm house.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I saw that the Lab12s were highly recommended in a previous post, but those are subs, however they are fairly efficient. I'm willing to venture outside of the world of Dayton to get bang for buck...

Maybe I'm asking too much.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Dan. Do you have any experience with any of these? I've used the 6.5 dayton classics and was fairly impressed with the bass extension for the cost, but would never use them for midrange. Beggar's can't be choosers, so I can't get too picky. Thanks again.

No. No personal experience with any of these. Those were just drivers I knew of that had specs similar to what you were looking for. Didn't want you to get castrated so thought I'd throw out a few quick options. I'd check MCMElectronics as well. They have some drivers that may well fit the bill.
