looking for a high Q 8" driver

8" driver
high q design...perferably high .5+
decent x-max of 3-4mm+
decent sensitivity of high 80s+
3.5" or small mounting depth

$50 per driver is a nice starting price range i suppose

right now i was looking at the eminence alpha8 partsexpress has them for $34 a driver in a set of 4

According to Pjay's driver finder this one's Qts is 0.72.
It's perfect for paralelling with its 16Ohm rating. And the price is right also- around $14.00. Personally I was considering it for a dipole project.
8 per side in a series/parallel configuration for a nice 8Ohm rating with high sensitivity.

dang i like everything about that driver, but do you happen to know the mounting depth? this is extremely important 🙂

it doesn't look like its over my limit but pictures can be deciving

No I don't know its depth. MCM has a Tech Support page where you can request additional information.
I suggest you start there.

Is the driver you're looking for going in a car?

A little higher price than you wanted, but a lower Fs than you were hoping for, plus a better Xmax and it suits your depth requirements, (3¾"). Or did you require 4 ohm?

Xmax is a little less than you wanted, but it is 4 ohms for the car, the depth, (Parts Express' "C" dimension), is right at 3 5/8" and everything else checks. Plus the price is nice at $13.

All in all, Parts Express is selling a lot of *" woofers, especially Goldwood, which would seem to have both the numbers, the depth and the price you seek.

It's discontinued, but the Audax AP210MO would also look good if you can find it. It's listed at $32.
