Thought I'd take a picture of these speakers for you guys. I'll likely sell them but I wanted to try a pair. 🙂

I owned a pair of those for three years. Built like a tank with beautiful walnut veneer and the lattice grill is also made of wood, a piece of art by itself! Nice-n-smooth overall sound and the tweeter (that's an aluminum horn there) sounded especially nice, detailed but not harsh at all. Stereo imaging was a tad blurry, I'm sure because of the dual/horizontal mids, but nothing objectionable. When the volume was turned up, that 15" woofer w/aluminum frame could easily shake walls. The switch gear on the back - level controls for the mids and horn tweeter - turned with a super-solid "thunk", something you'd feel on a $80K luxury car.

The horn tweeter isn't all that great. I'll agree it's not harsh which I was afraid it was going to be. I'd say it's over at 15khz for that driver but thankfully the supertweeters manage to lift it. I discovered one of my supertweeters was blown. They are wired in series so if you loose one they both go out. Without them there's no sparkle. Anyone who's said these lacked high end probably blew one.

"Stereo imaging was a tad blurry" I'm with you 100% on this one. You have to have these aimed right at you to really hear the stage. Off-axis they go mono! 😛

I had a pair of those once. The bass is not what it should be with those woofers, because the box is too small. Those are very nice cast woofers, however, and have a special wool/paper hybrid cone. Cloth surrounds on all the drivers, too.

Always wondered what I could make with the woofers in a proper box, but then I got an offer too good to refuse and sold them.

I bet I could greatly extend the lows by porting the rear panel.

Aw man, don't butcher them.

They may not have the lowest bass extension, but what they do have is very smooth and not worth giving up in my opinion.

They just need to be used in the right room, which would be a smallish room where their shallower rolloff can work well with the room gain. I'm using mine in a 10 x 11 foot home office.

Hi Lazzer ,I 'll tell you what I did with my old Kenwood 777 one month ago.
I took out all the drivers , dismantled the cabinet ,covered the holes except the woofer ,and used the front baffle for the new cabinet . This is 120 liters box with a lamellar and flared ,on both sides, reflex duct . Mid and tweeter are now Audax high sensibility types .
I bet you can do better if you can use the original mids in a MTM arrangemet ,with a new tweeter .

It's smooth I'll give it that but a pair of 15s should out-perform my 8" sub no? lol I'm sure I could position them better. I've been listening to them about 5' from any wall. I would rather not cut them up. I'd rather sell them to someone who want's them for what they are.

I used the parts in the original crossover ,also . the 1.5 and 1mH coils landed on a crossover made with spare parts from the trash .They served a 2 way -6 Ohm wf and 4 Ohm tw.
Since I couldn't use the mid an the tweeters from a unit ,since they were blowed ,a couple of 16 Ohm midranges and a couple of horn tweeters still sit on the shelf . Two metal horns from the dead ones are now employed in a high directivity project.
The old 12" now breaths and pumps in the new cabinet .
Those big tweeters with the horn may look funny in some new project .
Remember that in 'consumer electronics' the size ( of the cabinet) and the weight is decided by the manufacturer for transportation purposes ,as they couldn' t find useful to make a big tall box ,export it and expect to sell it in large quantity .
