Hi guys i thought i share with you this little beauty ive found only recently
on a street, i couldnt resist the temptation to pick it up and fix, it was in the
original carton it was bought, and i thought it could be brand new, the problem with
it when i switched it on was no picture or raster and no beam at all, i opened
it up and went straight for the tube potentials the wire connection of the screen
grid from the eht traffo on the tube board measured 0v,50v dc on and off (even a solid 50v wouldnt
have been enough to light up the tube) this indicated a bad connection joint, pluged in the
soldering iron sucked out the bad solder and resoldered it, i then switched the set
back on and it lit up, problem fixed, and the high tension on the screen grid was back
to solid rock steady state

as you can see from the attached photo these sets are made to be disposed of i guess, there is
a couple of very large ICs, and on the copper side a plethora of smd components which make
repair expensive because of the time it will take the technician just to figure where
everything is not to mention the added extra time it would take to replace an smd component
rather than an axial one, all this time makes the repair expensive and thus sometimes exceeding the
cost of a new set with a 12 moth warranty

the set is a relatively new model and it's got front and rear AV connections, perfect for
my nephew's xbox and dvd player, the picture quality is still above low priced asian brands
even with an asian tube, the white spot in the middle is from the camera flash and the
quality of the attached pictures is from a cheap webcam

it all took me 30 minutes to locate circuitries do measurements and resolder the joint, all together it has taken
me a couple of hours not to mention the trouble and time i got my self into to carry it to my place
it has cost me alot of time and those who do this for a living charge $80 an hour, if you compare
all this to the price of a brand new asian cheapy selling for around $100 you wonder why did you
pick it up in the first place
