I know Partsexpress sells some ready-to-buy relay circuits for speakers. The power ratings are for approx. 8-ohm loudspeakers and are actually switched based on current.
I've been on the chip-amp, solid state forums and no one really knows how to protect speakers. It's interesting, I think, I'm still working on it. I don't mind a sort of, archaic system, as long as I can get it to work. Anyway, Good Luck and tell me what you find, I'm very interested.
