True, we have to stick with the best for now until more is discovered. Provided that the current carrying requirements are met, the basic cable structure and the impedance it creates probably is the the most critical aspect of cable performance, follow closely by the skin depth issue, followed closely by conductor material density and uniformity. Much claims made by many cable manufacturers are true, but if the order if tackled in the wrong order of priority, then the results make not reveal the improvement expected reliably. The high frequency frazzle seems caused by impedance problems in the cables. When you start to lower the input impedance the high frequency frazzle is reduced as long as the source can drive it. I have improved the situation as explained in the products page on this site www.augene-audio.com.tw, and will have a small room (644) at the 2011 Taipei Hi End Audio Show this year. If anyone is in Taiwan at the time, I will be available pretty much throughout the show.
I have used litz inductors before. and it did not make audible difference to me, but it could be the frequency range they were designed for were too low for the difference to be audible.
Polarity makes a big difference depending on recording and speaker performance.

Do you recall if they were series or shunt inductors? Or have you listened with litz as both?

Still trying to get a power supply filter in there while keeping the same chassis size for some performance growth. But they will be on display for demo purposes as well.
Interconnects are pretty much ready. Initial comments from people that test drove them is that they sound more transparent than what they originally used, but the looks of them are not fancy enough. Should have some pics available on the web site in about a week or so.
We should be sending some samples out to potential distributors internationally soon.

Ah then I suspect the parallel 6.8uF cap stopped you hearing the reduced HF losses (by lower proximity effect) in the litz version. But I've not subjected a litz XO inductor to my LCR bridge for examination, so I'm speculating 🙂
