You can purchase Linear's chips directly from the company's website -- there are newly released parts which haven't yet made it to Digikey (I ordered some newly released switcher chips). Prices appear to be about the same to a little lower, significantly lower if you only order a few parts. Shipping is about the same. Note, I don't dislike Digikey, it was just a breeze going directly through Linear and having the linear catalog right infront of you.
