LCD Panel Projector compatibility with XP

I have an Apollo Vision 32K panel projector. It works fine on older laptop with win 98. I hooked it up to new laptopwith win xp and picture is distorted. Tried different resolutions but doesn't help.
Is there a compatibility problem with laptop or is it xp operating system?

I found the problem. I need to run my application in 640X480.
Win xp won't give me that resolution. My desktop doesn't fit right
but my application works fine. thanks for your suggestion

Win XP will give you the resolution that your looking for.
Right click the desktop and click on properties.
Click on the settings tab.
Click advanced.
Click on the adapter tab.
Click on "list all modes".
Select the resolution and refresh rate you want and click ok.
