My neighbours Krell is starting to play up and it's doing what you'd expect when a new laser is on the cards.
He had it replaced before and I think they took him for a bit of a ride. Charged him £600 saying it's a special laser and all that.
He bought the old laser that he'd kept and I did a quick Google and it looks to me like it's a JVC Optima 4 or 4S...
...am I correct in assuming this?

Generally speaking a pickup change is straightforward but you need to be aware that it may not be a simple "plug and play". Basic adjustment is often required... all players are the same although not all have the "full set" of adjustments available. The Philips CDM12 types are one such where there are no user adjustments possible.
