Hello all,
One of those turned up @ my nuthaus.
So It powers on and goes through all the steps before making sound ... the first click, the second click, and the third click, the flashing mute at the tine of power up that goes away etc etc ... except it makes no sound.
The reason I have surmised, is the 3 wire power feed going from the supply board located rear left of the receiver to the power amp board front right ... (that's where the power amp is in this right ?) Figured the heat sink is where it should be ...
So I think the burnt power connector is to blame ... but would like to confirm it from someone who has split one of these open.
Thanks.
Srinath.

My 5700 worked briefly after I tapped the case ...
Then when I moved it into place and connected up speakers etc, it didn't work.
I think I have a loose connection somewhere, tomorow I'll try it again. The burnt wire I think is a loose wire ...
BTW I have none of these batwing transistors, I seem to have a lot of B1875's ... I couldn't read the numbers too well in the dark with my flashlight ...
Cool.

I had the cover off and tapped every connector with a plastic stick. No dice.
Then I tapped the right side top frame rail, and voila, sound.
I have it working now, no idea what or why ... but tapping the top right made it work.
Cool.

So tap it again some day and it stops working.......
'Better to find and fix it properly.
Connectors are just one of many suspects, including components themselves. The next thing to check is PCB solder joints and some models are chronic - prone to many poor (cold solder) joints that show up later in the product life, depending on heat conditions. Resolder the board in the area where the fault seems located and check with a magnifier for tiny, hairline cracks in the traces, particularly near stress points like mounting posts, connector sockets and where large items are mounted.
Nope, nobody said making like a repair technician was going to be easy. However, I note from some repair advice sites that some owners have muting issues like this with the remote controller. The manual is said to deal with it.

I have a feeling its not going to give up any time soon. I'll test that theory when it quits raining by yanking up on the boards and connectors I suspect.
I was using radio to test it. I believe it had bad contact between one of the connectors from board to board. Or something like that. I'll try it again and test it out.
I dont think I tapped it hard enough to fix a solder joint, and then have it stay fixed as I wrestled this heavy bugger into the shelf, tip it on its side to connect speaker wires and it stay working.
Anyway I'll open it back up and see what causes it to drop again and now I know where I should tap upward ...
